Bilbao is a cosmopolitan, frendly and welcoming city, sorrounded by a beautiful mointain landscape, now turned into an architectural hub of international reference thanks to Ghery, Foster and others’ works. Not to be forgotten, is the city’s cute old town, which looks upon the river, which has been its historical bridge to the outside world.

Bizkaia Aretoa, the Congress venue
Designed by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza, the Bizkaia Aretoa is an admirable space, respectful with its environement, placed right in the center of Bilbao, boasting of the latest technologies in order to celebrate scientific congresses.

2016 European Phoniatrics EUHA Hearing Award

The Union of the European Phoniatricians (UEP) is an association for all physicians who are active in phoniatrics as well as colleagues in training in phoniatrics. UEP is a platform for an exchange of expert knowledge, clinical experience and scientific work in this area. UEP promotes the cooperation of phoniatricians in Europe, its neighbouring countries and those countries who have put the European model of phoniatrics into practice.
The European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) is an association for all persons working in the hearing aid sector for the benefit of people with impaired hearing. The association aims at bringing together hearing aid acousticians, scientists and laymen, who want to take part in specialised further education and vocational training.
In 2013, the award was inaugurated as a UEP award sponsored by the EUHA. The second European Phoniatrics EUHA Hearing Award will be granted on the occasion of the 28th UEP Congress in Bilbao.

Award
The 2016 UEP Sponsorship Award ceremony will be held during the 28th Congress of Union of the European Phoniatricians (UEP) titled "Phoniatrics and Communication" and scheduled for 29 September to 1 October 2016 in Bilbao, Spain. Awards must be accepted in person. Prize monies will be transferred to the prize winners‘ respective bank accounts as a lump-sum payment.
The decision if a scientific work submitted within the period stipulated meets the requirements of this award competition, and which of the submitted papers will be awarded a prize, is taken by a jury convened by five UEP experts who are free in their decision making. UEP Board members are excluded from the jury. The EUHA will not provide any jury members and renounces their right to vote.
Up to three scientific works may be awarded a prize with prize monies worth 500 euros for the first prize, 300 euros for the second prize, and 200 euros for the third prize.

Who is eligible?
The 2016 award competition is intended for UEP members and all physicians who are active in phoniatrics as well as colleagues in training in phoniatrics and members of other professions if the scientific work is initiated and supervised by a phoniatrician.
All UEP members are entitled to nominate candidates. Publications or dissertations may be submitted and should not be older than three years.

What is required?
The scientific work should deal with a topic concerning the technical rehabilitation of deficiencies affecting the auditory communication system in children or adults and should exhibit potential for development.
Entry rules
Applications must be received by 31 May 2016.
An electronic copy of the scientific work should be submitted to the UEP office by e-mail: uep-office@phoniatrics.eu. The application must be accompanied by the author‘s curriculum vitae.

Right of use
After submission for the award competition, the scientific work will remain the copyrighted property of the author or the respective publisher. With acceptance of the award, the EUHA will be granted the right of publication of the paper in whole or in parts.

At the same time, awardees will undertake to present the award topic at one of the EUHA's conferences, seminars, or courses at the earliest date possible.
The participants in the award competition declare their consent to the EUHA publishing their names and the titles of their scientific work as part of the EUHA website and, if applicable, in a EUHA press release. The participants also agree to visual and sound recordings being made during the award ceremony and being used thereafter.
The jury‘s decision is final. There is no legal recourse.

2016 European Phoniatrics Voice Award

The Union of the European Phoniatricians (UEP) is an association for all physicians who are active in phoniatrics as well as colleagues in training in phoniatrics. UEP is a platform for exchange of expert knowledge, clinical experience and scientific work in this area. The Union promotes the cooperation of phoniatricians in Europe, its neighbouring countries and those countries who have put the European model of phoniatrics into practice.
