The situation of Phoniatrics in Saudi Arabia country
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Phoniatrics is a medical subspecialty dealing with communication and swallowing disorders, and included under ORL H&N surgery department. This was approved by the Saudi Commission for Health specialist.

Communication and Swallowing Disorders Unit (CSDU) has the honor of working under the umbrella of the Department of ORL, College of Medicine, Kings Saud University, Riyadh city, since 1978, and finds from the department and its distinguished board all the support and backing, and it still aspires for more. By the grace of God, then the cooperation of all employees, CSDU continues its constant quest for excellence, which started many years ago, in order to achieve its goals and objectives of the department and university.

Number of Phoniatricians in Saudi Arabia:
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, there is only one Saudi phoniatrician with a doctoral degree (Associate Professor in King Saud University), two Saudi female phoniatricians with a master degree, one Saudi phoniatrician with Masters in SLP, and 9 Egyptian phoniatricians with doctoral degree in different hospitals in the kingdom.
